Jul. 11th, 2006 12:42 pmThis is from this last weekend of White Hart (many thanks to
softpaw who takes such lovely and timely images!) It's from Saturday when I was wearing the white dress, the 40-lber that I think is about to be retired to strictly ceremonial situations where I'm sitting down as just wearing that dress for several hours wears me out!
The knighting is definitely one of the high points of my day; the little ones totally buy into the 'reality' and its magic, they are such a joy and so adorable. Then some of the bigger ones think it's sort of a lark until it really happens to them. You can see them 'get it' when the sword touches their shoulders and I'm looking them right in the eyes and then Sir Richard gives them an attribute to live up to. It's pretty heady stuff. I think a few lives are altered thereby, I know mine certainly had been! You just can't expound virtues like that without taking them seriously.
