Risk vs. security

Former MIL once told me, "You know, you rediscover yourself about every 5 years; when are you going to find the 'you' that you want to keep?"

Starting over, losing everything

1) quitting secretarial work, sewing full-time
2) leaving Richard first time for Camelot
3) leaving Richard and financial security for emotional, sexual freedom and self-discovery
4) leaving KC to move in with Bruce

Though it means that I've lived more often without insurance or dependable income with no investments, no savings, no safety net, I've always depended on my own wits, strength and talents and my luck that I'd land on both feet and keep going. And I always have.

Will be performing at Boare's Head Feast at the Castle in Muskogee. I also know that the Bedlam Bards will be there as well so it's bound to be a rolicking good time. The food is amazing and it's just a helluva good party!

Here's formal notice if any friends and fans who've already gotten tickets or who are dithering about attending. Now's the time to get tickets...if they aren't already sold out. If you want to sit together rather than be spread out amongst the tables, call into the Castle and request to be seated together.

If somebody wishes to buy a whole table so that we have a dedicated Queen's Gambit Fans and Friends table....now's the time to do it.

Rumor has it that there'll be a sound system this year so we can be heard over the rowdy tables. Karen even promised (since her table is always the noisiest) that she'd keep them quiet during the music!

Oh yes, and we're playing the dance music after the feast, too.

Yes, I've posted about this a bit but things are only usually remembered through repedition, and so it's time to vote. Needless to say, please vote for Queen's Gambit. We've worked very hard to produce good quality CDs and shows and hope that you will all continue to support us.

And I quote Marc Gunn:

AUSTIN, TX (October 16, 2006) – The Celtic MP3s Music Magazine, the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast, and the Brobdingnagian Bards are proud to announce the opening of the 2nd Annual Celtic Music Awards. The awards page began with the goal to try and determine who the most-popular independent Celtic music groups are online through popular voting.

In 2005, only the top 10 Celtic music groups, by listener votes, were counted. This year, the voting opportunities are expanded with the addition of new award categories to better recognize contributors from the individual Celtic music genres (including folk, traditional, rock, new age). Listener’s can vote online from now until December 31, 2006. The results will be announced in March 2007 with a special Irish & Celtic Podcast that features music by the most popular artists in each category. You can see who the winners were in the 2005 Celtic Music Awards on the website. CDs from these select artists are also available for purchase at CDBaby.com and Amazon.com.
