Coupa things....

Double batch of banana bread dough will not fit into either of my glass bowls; the popcorn bowl had to be pressed into duty.

*whine* I reallyreallyreally want a Kitchen Aid Artisan mixer (cobalt blue if we're being picky) 'cause mixing that banana bread dough was really too much for my poor old ancient electric hand mixer.

But there's one loaf each of plain, one with pecans and one with pecans, coconut and chocolate chips in the oven now.

One important note: having a habit of shaking out old gardening shoes before putting them on is a GOOD thing...especially with a history of seeing an occasional brown recluse around the house. *shudder*

And I don't think I'm gonna get a new bodice done for this weekend but I'm still gonna try.

Envy, they name is Kitchen-Aid

I want one too. So badly I can't resist playing with them and petting them when I see them in the store. I am more than ready to own one, but Bill, who seldom asks for anything specific, wants to wait until the wedding and put it on the registry. Now, he knows it's a big ticket item and that it's unlikely that anyone will get it for us, and if they don't, then that's fine - we'll get it ourselves. But we have so much household equipment that came with one or the other of us already that the fact he wants the mixer to be unequivocally 'ours' (and ours as a wedding present, no less!) strikes me as....rather sweet, really.

I remember my grandmother's old mixer (and if it's not a Kitchen-Aid then my memory is playing tricks on me), and the fond stories she told of it being an anniversary present. My mother's mixer was a wedding present. I guess it's fitting, since they are so intimately involved in the nourishment of the family on a practical level, and are one of the few kitchen gadgets that really are likely to last a lifetime of the recipients :)

Geez, listen to me - waxing rhapsodic over a mixer. Yeah. I'm smitten :)

Yir right, y'know. The Kitchen Aid doesn't even bat an eye at a double batch of banana bread....

Where is the cobalt blue one? Mine's white, but then my kitchen is tiny and i have to preserve the illusion of space by having everything be white.... I bet that blue is GORGEOUS!

Y'know, I bet some dried cranberries and/or blueberries would go real good in either of those.

I really gotta post my sis's infamous pineapple zucchini nut bread! With a glass of milk the stuff is almost mana from heaven!

One of the hardest things about decommissioning the Kerr-McGee site I used to work at was throwing away the Kitchen Aid mixers. We had five of them that were used for blending the dirt we were sampling for radioactive contamination, and yes, we did manage to burn out the motors in a couple of them. Because of what they were used for, they had to be sent off for disposal, even though they were cleaned, because we couldn't guarantee 100% that they were. Had to chuck all the bowls and everything. Broke my heart.

That said, having used them daily for several years for a purpose far more brutal than anything you will ever put them through, I can attest to their hardiness and handiness.
