CALENDARS!
Sure it's close to the end of the month but you still need a nifty calendar, right? Or even a couple of them?
Ok, first...there's the Lime Project which I've mentioned before. http://www.limeproject.org/ This is an amazing calendar of beautiful woman who were so concerned about a gal named Heather, a mutual friend who has cancer, who has insurance but the insurance did not cover her medication, that they did something. These amazing woman decided, "Hey, sex sells, right?" so they took their clothes off. That's right; regular gals who would not normally do such a thing, doffed their garments to raise the money for this woman whom some of the models have never actually met. Bronxelf, who is a truly amazing woman, thought it was stupid to have Heather survive the treatment only to be financially ruined by that treatment. So they worked. No whiny, 'oh, why did this have to happen' no whinging at government services or the injustice of it all, they just moved into positive action. They designed it, various people shot the pictures, a professional writer wrote, an advertising professional wrote ads, a professional web-site was designed and is being maintained, the calendar was put together, was printed and ALL of it, every single bit of work on the calendar, was DONATED. 100% of the sales of the calendar is going to Heather to pay her medical treatments. Fifteen models, real women and neat, neat people, a couple of whom are really good friends of mine. Hell, if I'd known about it earlier, I would've volunteered to be in it but at this point, this is what I can do to help.
Yes, I bought my own copy of it and it's *gorgeous!* Did I mention nudes? Yes, with beautiful photography and lovely artwork and gorgeous lay-out. There are only a few copies of it left and this is a ONE time offer; this will not be repeated again, will not be an annual effort. All the people involved put a great deal of their own time into this project; time they could've spent profitably on their own work; this was a true 'work of the heart' and I commend them for it. I've put my money behind it.
Oddly enough, the printer over-printed and this fact was just discovered. To quote Bronxelf;
"This means we received 71 extra calendars. If we can sell them it raises an additional $1420. Were we to sell all of them, combined with the 5k guaranteed donation, we'd be within 500 bucks of our financial goal assuming *no* other donations come in." That's where you all come in. I have 300plus friends here; it wouldn't take much for just a few of you to order a calendar and the project would be done!
Ok, folks...this is your last chance to get this calendar. Go to the web-site and order. If you are in a situation where you can't have a nude calendar, then go to the web-site and donate. It's a damned good cause.
Ok, I've already condeded that it's 2007 and near the end of the first month. But you all really get calendars for the pictures anyway, right? Right. At this moment, my dear friend Amanda is busily editing and photo-shopping all the pictures that she took of the lovely ladies of Scarborough, including the lovely and talented gals from 'Queen Anne's Lace' and the ever-amazing Iris and Rose (for December!) and many of the other lovely ladies of Scarborough Faire and yes, including me, too. That's where I was last weekend, having pictures taken in my new blue chemise, bloomers and corset. Yep, that's right, not just any pictures; these are all Renaissance ladies in their frilly undies... slightly naughty but nothing your Aunt Tilly would be shocked to see! This is the best of provokative fun, just like hanging out in a Renfaire performer's parking lot in the morning but without the bad weather or the having to get up early!
And this is a benefit for RESCU, officially sanctioned and everything. The website for it is RESCU, www.rescufoundation.org. Don't know about RESCU? It's a fund set up to help rennies of all flavors; performers, vendors and all, who don't have insurance (and that covers many, many of us, indeed!) when medical care or an emergency occurs. I know people who have benefitted from this fund and it is a very worthy cause. They sell ribbons which is cool, but calendars could help raise even more and they're only $10 each, with a limited run of only 500.
So keep your eyes peeled here and in other LJs (like Tigerlady1974) for more news. This one will be an annual event and this first calendar will, I believe, be a 14 month calendar since it's coming out a bit late. I also have it on good authority that there will be a "Gentlemen and Rogues of Faire" calendar coming out next year for the ladies. I shouldn't be at all surprised if there wasn't a Bruce in that one... And she's vowed to start the next year's "Ladies of Faire" calendar this summer. From what I've seen of the photos so far, it'll be gorgeous; a real keeper!
So you all still need calendars, right?

I am hoping to be taking donations at Scarlet's this weekend. More details as they pop.

Re: AWESOME, SON_OF_DUST!
Date: 2007-01-24 04:52 pm (UTC)She is going to try and get the pins to me by Friday.
She was all about apologies because Scarlet's is early for the "season" that starts with AzRF. They are short on printed materials and low on pin supplies. But if all goes well, she will send additional materials as they come in.
I am going to try and talk with the Tyler boss this weekend and see about doing one day their. Already have in at Hillsboro. Would like to make some contacts for Norman and Lawton and Muskogee, if they don't already have someone there.
We shall see what happens.

Date: 2007-01-24 04:59 pm (UTC)Mrs. Me knows the Tyler boss. He asked SG to perform out there. I know people who know people just about everywhere. I just don't know them myself... yet.
Making face to face handshakes with management people would be awesome, if possible.

Anybody I know who would be helpful to whom I can introduce you, I would be happy to do so.
Does this mean you are not on cast at Scarby this year?

Date: 2007-01-24 05:15 pm (UTC)If you have somebody who could make a quick and nice web-site for the calendar, that would be a very good thing. I know that has helped sales with the Lime Project calendar a bunch; the web-designer was one of the models, too and is a dear friend. Setting up a PayPal account for it would really be a good sales aid and save you a bunch of time from handling that personally.
Re: THANKS HON!!!
Date: 2007-01-24 05:28 pm (UTC)Need to go "grass" roots on this first one & will do the whole thing more organized/professionally for the 2nd one. Always room for improvement!

But it ends up gettin the occasional cat foot print on it which is somehow fitting!

Date: 2007-01-25 03:33 am (UTC)And who said I 'wouldn't' do nudes, for in fact I have already done so several times...yes, I know you're from the show-me state but you weren't in the right place at the right time, were you? Shame....
This "Ladies of Faire" calendar is a whole different sort of thing than the Lime Project with a different projected audience. But I will say that had I been asked to be in it the Lime Project calendar, I would've....it is most definitely a worthwhile cause.
