I have a philosophical post brewing; been making notes on it all afternoon. Must simmer a bit longer while I sand.

I've noticed that activities like sanding, beading and gardening are all good for either thinking nothing at all or really deep thoughts.

Later...wanna sand while I still have some light outside.

For me, it's driving. That's why I'm always so posty when I get back from a trip.

Anything that you can do without conscious thought will work. I have found that once I get good at anything it can become a medium. Except eating ice cream. I cannot think of anything else while I'm doing that.

I found that while I was a temp I was the most connected spiritually to those I love. I could reach out to them energetically with no effort at all. I spent all day filing. I had nothing to do but think. But the filing engaged the part of my brain that gets in the way with mundane stuff. Very meditative for me.

Body hated it though. There seems to be no way to make filing ergonomic.

That was one of the things I loved about third shift in the clothing department. It could take me an hour to refold the shirts on a table that needed it, and while a precise 'art' it was also very mindless. I did lots of deep thinking in the middle of the night. Not all of it positive, but that's okay. I actually kind of miss having something to let my mind wander on. Cross stitching is not a mind wandering activity... maybe when I crochet some scarves...

Yeah, I can see how cross stitching would not be a mind wandering activity; have to keep count. Betcha crochet would, though, but I have no patience for crochet.

I can, however, sit and bead on a sleeve, for instance, for HOURS!

I've been crocheting long enough that I can watch tv or hold a conversation while I do it. Then again I rarely do fancy stitches. I'm also usually only working on a pouch or a square, so my hands just kind of take over.

I've got two cross stitch projects in the works, a BIG one and a small one for my brother's Christmas pressie. *sigh* A crafter's work is never done. *grin*

Hmmm... If you have something philosophical to write about, I'm gonna be listening. I haven't written a darn thing recently worth more than the ink it was written with. I need more brain!

It's a good morning for it, rainy and dismal. I'm also baking cinnamon rolls, just 'cause the day calls for it.
